It starts with the story of a monument, but actually tells the history of a country. This is the value of excellent research that Philip Lombardi has done and published in the little book on "The War Memorial Lugagnano Val d'Arda." Painstaking research that started in the '20s of the century last to arrive until 2008, when citizens are missing the last three lugagnanesi, awarded the title of Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto, fighters of the First World War.
In the book, complete with photos, tells the history and transformation of this monument, with all the biographies of the 143 dead of the Great War, a number is not insignificant considering that the time had 5,902 inhabitants. But the book is enhanced by information on the life of the country, the ability to relate to the problems of emigration of its inhabitants, still a distinctive feature of this site. They are curious
reports of local elections and the tragic events described, for the period the Fascist period and the Second World War. In practice, it is a treatise on local history, important to remember and understand as they have developed some social and cultural paths. Among the thanks Phil dedicates to his father, a Franco, a historical figure in journalism from Piacenza.
