Do Beauty Pageants Do More Good Than Harm?




A Saturday evening with friends and want to dine in a quiet place, away from the local noisy and crowded, so we decided to bring us to the House in the Woods Ship.
The restaurant is quite large, however, the careful division into three rooms it avoided the "warehouse" and the resulting noise in the evening rush, the restaurant also deserves a special bonus for respect for intimacy and privacy of the customer: no tables and diners crowded unknown distance of the elbow.
The decor is rustic, from mountain hut, but reveals an evident in the choice of furnishings (often design).
The table is set with place mats and napkins, made more beautiful by the informal dishes. The bread basket contains a selection of sticks, whole grain breads and slices of Puglia.
The waiter, very friendly and professional hands us the menu: dishes are typical of local tradition with a few pleasant foray into innovative cuisine. The wine list is interesting and next to the label "famous" you can find lesser-known bottles and definitely intriguing. Tonight we orient ourselves on a Ronchi di Manzano Cabernet Sauvignon.
As an appetizer we order a carpaccio of venison, which is offered with diced candied pear and toasted bread with mushrooms and alpine cheese: the meat is nothing short of excellent, soft and tasty and the contrast with the fresh acidity of the pear is extremely pleasant, even the good crust. The "Bertagna, a Lombard dish consisting of cod battered and fried: fish is of the highest quality and taste is enhanced by full-bodied sauces.
The suppressed, presented on a creamy white beans and accompanied by crispy polenta waffles: the consistency is perfect and the delicacy of cream dilutes the flavor of the salami.

Despite the pasta dishes are very tempting, we decide to go directly to the latter because we left some goodies that we have enticed spotted immediately.
I decide to taste roll roast rabbit stuffed with Brescia that she's a real delight, the meat is cooked perfectly and the filling is tasty and balanced in flavor, also combined with a delicious sauce with figs and mushrooms is really winning.
Other Single Patanegra Iberian is presented with the thin sheets of fried mushrooms and slices of grilled polenta. In this dish I can tell you only that the meat was soft and succulent and delicate mushrooms and irresistible: the 'only negative is that I have given only a mouthful.
There is brought a list of sweets and we make the huge mistake to look at it: the saliva begins to increase disproportionately and it is virtually impossible to resist.
Wanting to remain "light", I choose the grilled fish with ice cream rum: the sweetness of the fruit is softened in warm fresh ice cream, creating a perfect combination.
I can (with difficulty) to me give a taste of the sweets of my guests, with great satisfaction, thrust the spoon into the casket of meringue: a nest of delicate spumiglia filled mozzarella and cherry ice cream, all lying on a bed of sautéed fruit and delicious sauce and liquorice.

I can not taste the drops of hazelnut and lime sorbet with tears of raspberry, chocolate is a must for people like me: little mousse enhanced by the fruit sauce, served with a cup of refreshing sorbet files that gently cleans your mouth.
Finally, for all around coffee accompanied by delicious cookies gently on the house.
