Since the last staff in 1954 Caryatid Room of the Royal Palace, Salvador Dali returned to Milan with "The dream is close ", 50 works that dissect the artist's relationship with the landscape, the dream and desire.
The exhibition is divided into four sections, which in turn are divided into rooms, creating a themed walk through the eclectic creativity of the Catalan painter.
The historical landscape: look behind.
In room of Evil, Dali compares with the contemporary and above all with the theme of war, namely the English Civil. The colors are dark and distressing nell'inquietante " Le Visage de la Guerre " you are catapulted into a nightmare peopled by dozens of skulls embedded as terrifying matryoshkas, in the empty sockets of death.
The Landscapes autobiographical look inside.
In room Imaginary most surrealist works are located, their eyes betray the mind, the reality changes depending on your perspective, and nothing is as it seems. It seems to hear the laughter of Dali that makes fun of our clumsiness of our being so close to the reality, only capable of looking without seeing.
Tired and stripped of our certainties, we are catapulted into the room Wishlist: a tribute to Mae West, whose face is played in a living room with a sofa shaped like lips, nose, fireplace and two frames per for eyes. You enter in the physical space of the work, you sit on the reconstruction of the famous couch and tickles his own narcissism in becoming part of living installation.
The tone changes abruptly entered the room of Absence, where the silent loneliness reaches its climax in the metaphysical mysticism of the "Enigma Way", but it is in Empty room that the absolute abstraction becomes predominant element: the man is no longer the center of everything but is reduced to a small and painful detail, devoured by an oppressive desert and sad to finally reach the cosmic silence with "The abduction of Europe" , the artist's last painting before his death, a monochrome blue, pierced by long and irregular wounds. Epilogue
The final part of the exhibition is a summary of the journey made so far. We find the classical references, symbolism and atmosphere pop metaphysics. Heart-land of this room is a short film created in collaboration with Walt Disney Dali's "Destino " which transports us into un'onirica love story populated by surreal figures and there provides an extraordinary window sull'immaginifico world of this visionary artist who is considered, even mad, but undeniably brilliant.
